Putting New Mexicans Back to Work
With millions of Americans out of work and thousands more New Mexico families struggling to make ends meet, Hector Balderas will make creating jobs his number one priority. While we have seen a slight uptick in jobs created since our economy hit rock bottom, the pace is far too slow. Washington’s inaction is unacceptable. Hector believes we must begin implementing policies that help middle-class families, not just Wall Street bankers and CEOs.
Unfortunately, there are too many in Washington who want to go back to the failed approach of the past. Their approach would slash funding for education from Head Start to Pell Grants; gut spending for infrastructure and clean energy programs; and privatize Social Security and end Medicare as we know it – while using those “savings” to pay for more tax breaks for millionaires and big corporations.
Hector Balderas knows that there’s a better way.
As Senator, he will fight to invest in education, small businesses, infrastructure and clean energy. His plan would give tax credits to small businesses that hire veterans and unemployed workers; impose tax penalties on corporations that ship American jobs overseas; help put America back to work by rebuilding our schools, bridges, roads, and tunnels; and give teachers the resources they need to succeed – instead of vilifying them.
When elected, Hector will work to expand economic opportunity for all New Mexicans and fight for investments that create jobs for this generation and the next.
