Government Accountability
As a prosecutor and a State Representative, I have spent my career fighting for New Mexicans with independence and honesty.
As your State Auditor, I will work to improve government accountability by investigating fraud and assisting in the prosecution of improper use of public funds.
I do not approach this job lightly. I understand the importance of the Auditor’s office to our State and what a critical role this is.
Being State Auditor is more than just crunching numbers, it is making sure the hard-earned tax dollars of all New Mexicans are spent the way they are intended. To ensure that our money is spent correctly, I will establish a Taxpayer Protection Initiative to improve government accountability by investigating fraud and illegal acts that affect government resources.
Tax Dollar Watchdog
As a prosecutor, I have the experience to go after those government officials who misuse taxpayer funds and violate the public trust. I will not hesitate to go after any official who breaks the confidence of the people he or she serves, regardless of their political affiliation.
The State Auditor’s office must do everything within its powers to guarantee that public funds are used correctly and ethically.
I will do even more. I will play a more active role in the investigation and prosecution of fraud and illegal acts that involve taxpayer money.
Open door to the Public
To show my dedication to the people of New Mexico, I will always have an open door to New Mexicans, and engage the public about how taxpayer funds should be spent, and work with public officials on the best practices for effective and honest government.
We need to hold government accountable, not only for its successes, but its failures as well.
I know that with your help and support I can achieve these goals and bring the type of leadership, independence and integrity that New Mexico needs in the Auditor’s office.
Independence, Honesty and Integrity
We need a State Auditor who is willing to put politics aside and run the office with independence, honesty and integrity. As a child, my grandfather instilled these values in me, along with strong morals and the importance of family.
I pledge to you all here and now, I will always fight for New Mexico’s families.
